find items by seller - how to?

Trying to find items by seller user name. I can get them by using a findItemsAdvanced and adding an itemFilter with a(name=>Seller, value=>sellername) but this only works in the sandbox. Is there another way to do this? Thanks.

I found out why it wasnt working, I wasn't using a keyword or categoryID. Still wondering if this is the only way.
